Being humble

Jesus:

... I am meek and lowly in heart...
(Matthew 11:29)

After washing his disciples' feet, Jesus said unto them:

Know ye what I have done to you? Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet. For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you. Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.
(Matthew 13:12-16)

Jesus and his disciples:

(Jesus asked his disciples) "What were you arguing about on the road?" But they kept quiet because on the way they had argued about who was the greatest. Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, "If anyone wants to be first, he must be the very last, and the servant of all."
(Mark 9:33-35)

Jesus:

And they shall come from the east, and from the west, and from the north, and from the south, and shall sit down in the kingdom of God. And behold, there are last which shall be first, and there are first which shall be last.
(Luke 13:29-30)

Jesus:

But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.
(Matthew 23:11-12)

Mary, mother of Christ:

(God) hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree.

Paul:

I ... beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, with all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love...

Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
